Accounting | Technician Apprentice (IP&E-1916)

The Accounting Technician Apprentice will perform assigned duties within the areas of accounts payable and receivable, general ledger reconciliation, internal control documentation and reporting, and inventory functions.


Responsibilities

 

The Employee will:

  • Reviews accounts payable invoices, assigns vendor numbers and similar identifying data, and confirms correct accounting codes were used.
  • Enters master data information into the accounting software (customer, vendor, fixed asset, and inventory).
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliation in coordination with the shared services team.
  • Prepares monthly general ledger reconciliation reports.
  • Prepares internal control documentation.
  • Performs other duties to assist other accounting teams and as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

 

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be a US citizen or resident alien.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a resident of Guam for a period of not less than three (3) consecutive years before entry into the program.
  • Mayor’s Verification must be submitted upon hire.
  • Must be able to attend a minimum of two (2) classes per semester as identified by program coordinator, while working forty (40) hours per week with IP&E.


Physical Demands


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The physical activity of this position includes climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling, repetitive motions – making substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers, grasping, feeling, Talking-Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, repetitive motions.

The physical requirements of this position involve sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

For visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field of vision, the worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines.


Working Conditions


The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. This job operates in mainly in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and other such machines and equipment.
