Wireless Core Network | Engineer (IT&E-2000)

The Wireless Core Network Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of IT&E's Wireless Core Network, Guam and CNMI.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Employee will:

  • Participate as a member of the Wireless Core Network team in the development of department strategy and other short and long-term corporate plans, providing input and expertise relevant to engineering and plant technical services issues.
  • Develop, in conjunction with the Manager, Wireless Core Network, goals and objectives for the Department in line with the IT&E’s Mission and business strategy.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to assist in ensuring efficient departmental operations through the development of performance measures, establishment of goals and objectives, setting priorities and obtaining and giving feedback.
  • Ensure the availability and timely provision of IT&E telecommunication services through the smooth and efficient operation of all Wireless Core Network systems.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for Wireless Core Network systems and facilities.
  • Recommend Purchase Requisitions for materials and equipment needed by the department.
  • Assist as required in developing and implementing in-service and cross-training, certification programs and other programs and strategies to improve staff skill levels and advancement potential, productivity, safety, and quality within the department.
  • Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or required.


Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in telephony, electrical or electronic engineering, engineering management or related field, or a combination of completion of a technical certificate program in electronics and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years’ Full time Work experience in the Wireless or Wireline Core Networking, or IT – IP Operations and or Engineering aspects of telecommunications.

 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

 

  • Extensive hands-on, Software and Hardware experience with Ericsson equipment supporting HSPA, LTE, VoLTE, VoWiFi, 5G wireless networks, various interfaces, protocols, tracing and troubleshooting on the System flows or Experience in Cloud Computing, Virtualizations, Infrastructure & IT-IP Security Management, Automation, System Administration, knowledge on various IT, DNS Servers, Firewall, Basic Routers will be desired.
  • Knowledge of Telecom Infrastructure, Basic AC/DC Power requirements to the Node Levels, Electrical distribution systems, inter and intra various types of cabling systems, experience on Engineering Drawings optional but adds value to the current Job Requirement.

The physical activity of this position includes Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling, repetitive motions – making substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers, grasping, feeling, Talking-Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, repetitive motions.

The physical requirements of this position involve light work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for. Sedentary Work and the worker sit most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.


Working Conditions


The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

Formerly Micronesian Telecommunications Corp, IT&E was a part of Verizon International. CITADEL acquired IT&E in 2005 after successfully navigating the US CIFUS process and the Federal Communications Commission. In 2006, a partnership was established with Sumitomo Corporation, one of Japan’s largest trading houses, which invested in the company as part of its telecommunications push. The company acquired IT&E in Guam, and together, became the largest wireless provider in Micronesia. The entire company was renamed IT&E. IT&E was the first in the region to offer 3G services with the launch of CDMA EVDO in 2009. It soon followed with the launch of 4G LTE in 2011.
